120 pro-Palestinian activists arrested after landing in Ben-Gurion airport
OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- The Israeli Interior Ministry has blocked hundreds of foreign activists from boarding planes in Europe and arrested dozens who managed to reach the occupied territories on Friday.
Israeli media reported that police arrested some 120 activists moments upon their arrival at Ben-Gurion international airport. The activists were planning to show solidarity with the Palestinians in their struggle against Israel's policies and practices. They have been transferred to the Ramle and Beersheba prisons until the time they will be deported from Tel Aviv.
The sources said Israel sent a black-list of activists' names to international airports and thereby blocked some 200 activists from boarding the planes.
Meanwhile, activists banned from flight in Paris have been sitting in at Charles de Gaulle airport to condemn what they labeled Israel's “control” of the French airport.
Israeli forces have also tightened procedures at West Bank checkpoints in search of pro-Palestinian activists who slipped past tight security at Ben-Gurion airport. Police said the state of alert at the airport would continue over the next few days to repel “irregular emergencies” that could take place.
According to police data, anywhere from 350-500 people were refused travel by airports and airlines in their countries.
Israeli police also said two planes landed at an alternate terminal for security reasons.
The activists' influx to the West Bank was timed to coincide with the seventh anniversary of a ruling by the International Court of Justice in the Hague condemning the separation wall in the Palestinian territories as illegal.
The program involved tours of Palestinian villages and the reclamation of farmlands. In addition, activists wanted to study the effects the wall has had on Palestinian cities and towns.
Report: The number of children kidnapped this year markedly rose

RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- Ansar Al-Asra (advocates for prisoners) society said it documented the detention of 1,552 Palestinian citizens in the first half of this year, including 215 children.
According a report released by the society on Thursday, there was a marked increase in the kidnapping of Palestinian minors this year and their number rose to 350 children.
19 Palestinian lawmakers from Hamas Movement were also among the detainees who were kidnapped during this year.
The society appealed to the international community to necessarily and actively intervene to curb Israel's persistent violation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian lands.
Art, Music & Culture Learning capoeira in the shadow of Israel’s wall

WEST BANK (IRIN) - Shufat refugee camp in occupied East Jerusalem is a difficult place for a child to grow up in.
“The area has very few opportunities for kids to do constructive and positive things,” said Isaac Heinrich, project manager for an organization called Bidna Capoeira (http://bidnacapoeira.org).
“It is dirty [and] just outside the camp school they burn garbage while the kids are in class … The camp is right on the border with Israel, and half of it is encircled by the wall. The level of violence is high and the threat from outside feels overwhelming.”
It is here that Bidna Capoeira started a project in March to help children cope with trauma by learning capoeira, an age-old Afro-Brazilian martial art.

Pro-Palestinian activists occupy embassy in Athens
ATHENS (AFP) -- Pro-Palestinian activists from an international flotilla banned from setting sail for Gaza by Greek authorities occupied the Spanish Embassy in Athens on Tuesday, a diplomatic source said.
"It's somewhat of a symbolic occupation. There are only four activists currently in the embassy, all of whom are Spanish," the source said.
The activists "want us to ask the Spanish government to put pressure on Athens to authorise the flotilla to set sail for Gaza," she said.
A dozen supporters were gathered outside the embassy, she added.
Thirty mainly Spanish activists had met with their ambassador to ask Madrid to put pressure on Greece to allow them to sail, one of the protesters, who called himself Santiago, said by telephone.
They had then "decided to occupy the rooms," he said.
The activists had draped a Palestinian flag from one of the embassy's balconies, an AFP photographer said.
Hamas calls on Greece to let Gaza flotilla sail
GAZA CITY (AFP) -- The Hamas government in the Gaza Strip on Sunday called on Greece to allow a flotilla of aid ships to set sail for the Israeli-blockaded Palestinian territory.
"We regret the position of Greece, which has responded to international pressure to stop the Freedom Flotilla from sailing," foreign minister Mohamed Awad told a news conference at Gaza's port.
"We call on them to reconsider their ban on the flotilla setting sail and to allow them to leave," he added.
Several ships participating in the so-called Freedom Flotilla have been forced to remain docked in Greece after local authorities warned that they did not have permission to set sail for Gaza.
